Prepare the garden for spring.

Subjected to severe hardship during the winter (heavy rain, frost, snow...), the ground is often damaged. Once the excess water is absorbed and the soil has dried on the surface, it is time to clean the vegetable garden with manual weeding: remove all weed roots and weeds. Once this cleaning is done, ventilate the floor thoroughly using a spade.

Also consider cleaning your perennials, some of which may have suffered from frost. Does the plant seem dead to you? Do not tear it off! Prune it to give it a chance to leave in the spring.

Before the real departure of the vegetation, the end of winter is the ideal time to carry out the pruning of the trees and shrubs of your garden. Do not hesitate to remove dead or damaged branches, as well as intersecting branches. This pruning will allow the pome fruit trees to promote good fruiting. A tip for bush roses: prune them at an average distance of 15 to 20 cm from the graft point to reduce woody parts and promote young shoots.

By removing the softened stems of aquatic plants or the leaves fallen into the water, your ornamental pond will regain all its charm. On sunny days, you can consider restarting the filtration system and gradually feeding the fish.
